Julia Beideck, born in 1992, studied Psychology at the Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (B.Sc.) and the FernUniversität in Hagen (M.Sc.) as well as Economics (B.Sc.) at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Cologne.

In the project Integrated Social Space Formation and Sustainable Social Space Development in Lusatia (INSOLA) (FKZ 03WIR6511B), funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space, she is working as a research assistant – particularly in the district of Görlitz – on a participatory analysis of the social space in order to systematically identify social needs and thus develop the social infrastructure in a targeted and sustainable manner. The aim is to create a resilient region through networking, civil society engagement and social innovation, in which local actors work together to develop viable solutions.

Since October 2022, Julia Beideck has also been pursuing a doctorate at the Seminar for Cooperative Studies. In her doctoral project, which is funded by the Association for the Promotion of Cooperative Studies at the University of Cologne, she is researching cultural cooperatives.
